A pioneer in coupling convectional reservoir fluid pore pressure modelling with stress analysis to reveal ground movement. Currently developing a new approach to plugging abandoned wells that allows for ground movement - two key areas of relevance to CCS reservoir management.
Has held posts at University College Cardiff, the University of Strathclyde, Heriot-Watt University as Professor and Head of the Institute of Petroleum Engineering, Deputy Principle International Business Development and Vice Principle (Dubai).
Managed the new Heriot-Watt University campus in Dubai for five years and founding Rector at the International University of East Africa and Global College Malta.
Rock mechanics technical expert at the Bilsthorpe Colliery Disaster Public Inquiry in 1993, and at the City of Edinburgh’s Gilmerton Hill Subsidence Public Inquiry in 2001.
