monetising curtailed electricity

electrolytic hydrogen from
curtailed renewable energy

Curtailed electricity from solar panels and wind generators is not supplied consistently (by definition). It is generated when there is not enough demand for electricity. Hydrogen generated from curtailed electricity requires an electrolyser that is not always on – and this is problematic and expensive.

We have a solution enabling us to monetise customers’ small-scale curtailed electricity using cutting edge electrolyser technology. We solve the problem by reducing scale not by increasing the scale (and hence cost).

This electrolytic hydrogen complements the supply of hydrogen from one of our natural gas refineries. It can be either used for fuel switching, for long-term (inter-seasonal) on-site energy storage, or for on-site vehicle fleets.
